HOW WE MET
December 2019 at Butte Creek Country Club
We first met at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico, California, in December 2019, when Josh interviewed and hired Rose as the membership coordinator. We spent the next two years working side by side, building inside jokes, sharing plenty of laughs, and navigating the ups and downs of working together - including that memorable moment when Josh had to lay off Rose during the COVID pandemic.
JOSH LEAVES CALIFORNIA
FEBRUARY 2022
Josh was offered a position as the general manager at Bend Golf Club in Bend, Oregon, which he accepted. Rose and Josh stayed in touch for the year following and became close friends.
ROSE'S CAR IS BROKEN INTO
APRIL 2023
Rose was living in Meriam Park in Chico, California, when her car was broken into one weekend. Prior to moving, Josh had actually lived a few streets over and was Rose's go-to helper for any car troubles she encountered. Somehow this incident became the spark that made Josh invite Rose to visit him in Oregon.
ROSE VISITS BEND
MAY 2023
Rose visited Josh Memorial Day Weekend of 2023. We went to Tumalo Falls, drove to the top of Pilot Butte, ate dinner at Jackalope Grille in downtown Bend, and watched Swallowtail butterflies at the Metolius. Josh also subjected Rose to an obscene amount of nature documentaries. At the end of the weekend, we were officially together.
LONG DISTANCE
MAY 2023 TO MARCH 2024
We did long distance for approximately 3 months prior to deciding Rose would move to Bend the following year. We each took turns for almost a year driving the six hours to spend 48 hours together before having to be apart again.
ROSE MOVES TO BEND
MARCH 2024
Rose left her job at Butte Creek, packed up her apartment in Chico, said goodbye to her sister, brother-in-law, and nephew Ollie, and drove the six hours north to Bend with her cat Marmalade and all her belongings. Today, Rose and Josh happily share their life in Bend with their dog Tela and cat Marmalade.
THE PROPOSAL
JULY 2025
We both knew a proposal was on the horizon. Rose had been dropping plenty of hints, and Josh kept assuring her he had a plan. When Josh called Rose's sister, it didn't stay a secret for long, even though her sister did her best to play it off. By then, Rose knew it was only a matter of time. Rose suspected it might happen during a weekend trip to the Oregon Coast for Josh's birthday, but Josh knew Rose suspected and wanted it to be a complete surprise. The night before we left - on Josh's actual birthday - Josh suggested a walk to the little park by our house. At the top of the hill, with the mountains in view, Josh got down on one knee and popped the question. We spent the rest of the weekend on the coast celebrating both our engagement and Josh's birthday.
